Helping endangered bats

A fungus that interrupts bat hibernation is taking a terrible toll on North American bat populations. A number of bat species, including the little brown bat (now called Little Brown Myotis) found around Long Point, have jumped straight onto the Endangered Species List due to this rapidly spreading fungus. There are no easy answers for saving bats from the fungus, but putting up a bat house on your property can help.
